We are Shoal Creek Baptist Church, and we are part of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina and the Southern Baptist Convention. We follow “The Baptist Faith and Message” statement adopted by the SBC in June of 2000. (see link, https://bfm.sbc.net/)
We believe there is only One Way of salvation, and this can be summarized in one verse of Scripture, John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Why does God love us this much? He created us in His image to be a reflection of Him. God also gave mankind the ability to choose between right and wrong, good and bad, and no matter how “right or good” we may think we are; we all choose to do the wrong things in our lives. These choices separate us from God, and the Bible calls these choices, sin. There is nothing that we can do by our own power to bridge that gap of separation between God and us. God knew this would happen, and He knew that the only way to bridge that gap was to send His only begotten Son, Jesus, to become that bridge. Jesus lived on this earth in human flesh at an appointed time as One who never even had so much as a sinful thought for the purpose of one day dying on a cross on a hill called Calvary to pay the price for our sin. He was the only One who could take our place, and He did it because He loves us. After He died, His body was put into tomb (a cave-like grave), and three days later, He came back to life, and He lives forevermore. What Jesus did is proof of just how much God loves us. What do we do with this message of love and grace?
Simple: We need to Admit to God that we are not good enough, for we have done bad, wrong things in our lives. We need to admit that our only hope is in Jesus Christ.
We need to Believe that God sent His Son, Jesus, to pay the price for our wrongs, our sin. What God is giving to us is in Jesus is called “grace.” We don’t deserve it; we can’t earn it; we can’t buy it; there is nothing we can do except to believe God and receive this gift of grace. It is free!
We need to Confess to God and to others that we believe that Jesus is God’s Son, and He paid the price for our wrongs. Confess means that we tell God we are not good enough. We confess that our only hope is to believe Jesus took our place. We confess that we want to know Jesus Christ as our personal Savior.
After reading this, if you want to come to know Jesus as your personal Savior, you can contact Pastor Taylor, and he will be glad to help you with this eternal decision.
